Can I inspire you to book a trip to the Andaman Sea?
In the last couple of years I’ve fallen in love with scuba diving and underwater photography. Diving has easily become the number one reason my husband and I travel anywhere and a couple of years ago, I bought an underwater housing for my Sony RX100 camera. I’ve taken so many photos while learning how to shoot underwater and well… I haven’t really felt like I have anywhere to share them.
So I’m doing a throw back to the early days of traveling blogging and sharing 20 photos that I hope will inspire your trip to the Andaman Sea.
We’ve been lucky enough to go on a liveaboard in the Similan and Surin Islands two years in a row now and I hope it’s somewhere we return to throughout our entire lives.
The Blue Dolphin MV
Both liveboards we did in Khao Lak were with the team at Big Blue Khao Lak, onboard the Blue Dolphin MV. The boat and crew are incredible, we absolutely love diving with them. The trip is 4 days, 4 nights with a total of 14 dives around the Similan and Surin Islands.
Of course you get to dive the incredible and famous, Richelieu Rock, but you also get to dive some of my favorite dive sites in the area like Aow Pakaad and Koh Tachai. Each day ends with beers on the top deck watching the sunset and reminiscing about the day’s dives.
Unfortunately, I am a liveaboard girl through and through. There’s nothing I love more than waking up at the dive sites, having all of my food cooked for me, and getting to spend all day with other people who are as nerdy and passionate about the ocean as I am.
If you want to read more about our experiences onboard the Blue Dolphin MV, you can find my first trip report here and my second trip report here.
And even better, if you want to go diving with me, the crazy cheerful ocean nerd in the Similan and Surin Islands, I’d love to make a group trip happen so you can register your interest here.
Now, let’s dive into 20 photos that I hope will inspire your trip to the Andaman Sea.
20 Photos to Inspire Your Trip to the Andaman Sea

This photo was taken at Pak Kaad. It was one of my favorite dives of our Similan and Surin Islands liveaboard this year. I am obsessed with these gorgeous, colorful shallow reefs.

Another favorite, this one reminds me Finding Nemo.

These are the classic boulders that the Similan Islands are so well known for. These unique underwater landscapes make the Similan and Surin Islands so special. I love that you can take a photo that looks like it was meant to be above ground, but then you see the fish and realize it’s underwater.

Who else loves watching these pancakes fly through the water?

Do you feel inspired to book a trip to the Andaman Sea? Going through these photos has definitely made me want to go back. I would book again in the heartbeat and I give Big Blue Khao Lak a 10/10.
You can mention my name (JUSTYNJEN) for free nitrox on your trip!
