I just want to remind you that Pinterest has changed a lot in recent years. It’s becoming harder and slower to grow on this platform. Sadly, the days of popping in once a week, sharing your latest blog, or scheduling out posts for weeks at a time, are gone.

There are a lot of ‘fun and slightly silly’ holidays to celebrate in the month of September. I’ve picked my favorite, but if you want to find a ‘holiday’ that fits into your niche – check out this site. A lot of those dates can be turned into really fun and clever content for Pinterest. But remember that RIGHT NOW is the time to start posting about upcoming holidays. Think Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas already. Trust me on this!

Trust me when I tell you that it is time to focus on Fall and Winter. If you’re still posting about summer in September, you are very behind the times on Pinterest. I honestly believe that it’s past ‘transition’ time and instead time for full-on Fall outfits. You should also be getting ready to share holiday looks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Here’s what I found when looking at ‘fashion’ on Pinterest for September:
- Fall outfits
- Fall outfits inspiration
- First day of school outfits
- Casual outfits & outfit inspiration
- Trench coat outfit
- Fall fashion 2022
- Family Halloween costumes
Focus on Fall colors, lightweight sweaters, and wearing more jeans! People are looking for their outfits as we move into colder seasons. And if you have kids or post about back-to-school style – you should definitely already have those posts ready to go!
Food and drinks trends on Pinterest in September 2022
Last month I pointed out that pinners are busy. They’re going back to school, or their kids are back in school and I would have to say that ‘busy’ has not stopped yet. One of the biggest searches on Pinterest right now is ‘easy dinner ideas’. If you’re in the food niche, you are missing out by not sharing quick, easy, and healthy dinners right now. Here’s what else people are searching for right now on Pinterest:
- Dinner ideas/Easy dinner recipes
- Quick breakfast ideas
- Easy lunch box meals
- Zucchini recipes
- Pumpkin and Pumpkin recipes (a big one I saw in the search was pumpkin chili!)
If you’re a food blogger, you should definitely be sharing all of your recipes as Idea Pins. Idea pins are the best way to grow your audience size on Pinterest right now, so make sure you’re showcasing your recipes in this way – and cooking with your audience!
Beauty trends on Pinterest in September 2022
Hello beauty bloggers! We’re heading into fall and that means transitioning into fall colors. Whether that means hair colors, nails, or how we do our makeup, pinners are looking for more neutral colors and looks this September. Here’s your top beauty searches in September:
- Spooky nail ideas
- Halloween nails
- Fall nails
- Halloween makeup terror
- No makeup makeup
- Fall wedding makeup
One of the biggest searches I saw this month was ‘no makeup makeup’. People are looking for more lowkey, natural looks so find a way that you can give them this – while still incorporating fall and winter into your trends.
Home Decor & Lifestyle Trends on Pinterest in September 2022
I always think that you can use any of these trends if you’re in the lifestyle niche. Pinterest usually shares a lot of ‘home decor’ and remodels for lifestyle content, but if food and fashion fit into your lifestyle, share it all! If you’re in the lifestyle niche, try to work on these topics in September:
- Fall Decor
- Fall Decor DIY
- Fall porch decorations
- Fall-inspired living room
- Dorm room decorating
- Bathroom/Living room/Kitchen decor
Last year on the week of October 30th, we had the largest spike of people looking for Cute Pumpkin Carving Ideas and Pumpkin Carving Parties. I bet we’re going to see a similar spike this year, which means you should get your pumpkin carving ideas out on Idea Pins well before that week.
Travel Trends on Pinterest in September 2022
Lastly, let’s talk about travel. Where are people going this fall/September? Last year we saw a huge spike in people traveling specifically for the fall colors and I would assume that we’re going to see that same surge again. Let’s see what people are wanting to do with their vacation days in September:
- Camping tips and camping hacks
- Hawaii travel planning
- New York travel planning
- Paris travel planning
If you mainly post about family vacations, remember that school just started for most people, so they’re likely not going on a vacation right away. But you can still help them find inspiration and start planning for their holiday travel and Fall break. People tend to plan travel anywhere from 3-12 months in advance, so help people plan ahead for their trips.
